4.2.7.1 - Repository shall have a documented process for testing understandability for their Designated Communities of the Content Information of the AIPs at their creation.

Introduction

Scholars Portal is an extremely active archive, therefore the understandability of the AIP content information is consistently tested through use by the Designated Community. This extensive use of the collection allows for both direct and indirect feedback. The direct feedback is retrieved from forums provided through the Scholars Portal site, as well as a 'contact support' email for users to report problems. Scholars Portal acts on all reports from users about the repository content by responding to feedback and correcting errors. Indirect feedback is reported to Scholars Portal by the Designated Community as communicated to them by secondary users.

Scholars Portal also possesses a DTD and documentation describing what an 'acceptably formatted' object looks like.

Accessibility to the Content Information is maintained through regular system and file checks. Any accessibility issue is acknowledged and dealt with immediately.
