Ontario Data Documentation, Extraction Service and Infrastructure Initiative (<odesi>)

Established in 2007, <odesi> (Ontario Data Documentation, Extraction Service and Infrastructure) is a digital repository for social science data, including polling data. It is a web-based data exploration, extraction and analysis tool that uses the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) social science data standard.

<odesi> provides researchers the ability to search for survey questions (variables) across hundreds of datasets. The data is in different formats, such as microdata, Excel and B2020 files.

This Voice of the People poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly economic, political, and social issues. The questions ask opinions of corruption in society, incidences of bribery, water channels/sources of drinking water, global economy, and environmental issues, including global warming. There are also questions on other topics of interest such as Canadian democracy, politics, and elections. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographic and social variables. Topics of interest include: global economy; business; global issues; politics; water channels/sources; elections; corruption; global institutions; and the environment. Basic demographic variables are also included.
