4.2.5 - The repository shall have access to necessary tools and resources to provide authoritative Representation Information for all of the digital objects it contains.
Introduction
Scholars Portal subscribes to the external format registry, PRONOM. The repository identifies and validates each file using software tools from the FITS package. It makes use of DROID for format identification during the ingestion process where a file format is associated with each file. Scholars Portal also employs JHOVE as a tool for further format-specific identification, validation and characterization of the file.
