Preservation Policies; mission statement; written definitions of the Designated Community; written definitions of Archival Information Packages; documented policies; protocols, rules, manuals, handbooks, and workflows; service-level agreements; technical infrastructure, description of repository services.
3.3.2.2 The repository shall maintain policies that specify the nature of any legal permissions required to preserve digital content over time, and the repository shall acquire these permissions when needed.

This is necessary in order that the repository is able to maintain and modify digital objects to keep them accessible over time, a right which otherwise may be restricted by law to the creator.
