 Copyright ActJessica Whyte

The Copyright Act is now up for review and I think we should talk about organizing any letters or responses (e.g. coordinating examples of digital locks inhibiting our work)

Background Information for discussion goo.gl/ys9D7k

Key area of interest to us: there is no legal exemption for digital locks. This is a change from how analogue material is dealt with and as a community we might want to bring that to the attention of the review board, others participating in the review, etc.

Anyone interested is welcome to participate in the google doc.

 CANARIE community call responseStephen Marks

Do we want to respond to the CANARIE community call for consultation around an RDM focused funding stream?

https://www.canarie.ca/rdm/community-consultation/

General interest in a community response and to share it with stakeholders at local institutions.

Deadline for submissions is February 15th 2018, 4:00 pm ET

Comments: we should, but I'm not sure we have capacity within the community.

York and ODC would be willing to circulate for interest and would contribute to a draft.
