Agenda and Resulting Actions
1. Action follow-up from Sep.25 call
- Comments/questions on SFX statistics information. To pursue the question of what would be useful in terms of OCUL consolidated SFX statistics, and OCUL-wide education about what can be gleaned from SFX statistics: 1) Kate will continue to consult with Ex Libris about the possibility of a statistics-specific session in the day prior to Scholars Portal Day; 2) if only a general SFX session is avaialble, Kate will send a message to the SFX list asking if this would be useful; 3) if a statistics-specific session is available, Martha will consult with Faye to see if this would be useful in terms of OCUL-IR's current assessment phase.
- SFX-RACER. Modifications will be made to the implementation to address the overwhelming volume of RACER requests experienced in the Ryerson pilot. Windsor SFX-RACER connection is a little different, as explained in Art Rhyno's posting to the SFX Knowledgeshare titled "Adding Print Holdings & Ill Links to the SFX Menu" http://spotdocs.scholarsportal.info/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=46862
2. RefWorks attachment feature - help/guidelines for OCUL libraries, especially regarding addressing copyright issues. Some preliminary discussion focused on clarifying our obligations with respect to notifying users in broad terms about license restrictions, and consulting with RefWorks about possible customizations to include clear notices. Action: The RefWorks subgroup will discuss further.
3. RefWorks statistics. Action: The RefWorks subgroup will consider other aspects of the statistics they would like to see (e.g. of the single time users were many accounts created at the same time, as in a mandatory class?), how to identify user interface barriers, and approaches to promotion.
4. Discovery layer user group. Action: By Oct.24, Martha will circulate to the group a one-page proposal for a user study that would precede an OCUL discovery layer project, if there is interest in and funding for such a project. The proposal would suggest a study conducted by a professional group, which would help us establish the questions we want answered and coordinate the research. This proposal will go to the next OCUL directors meeting. The group will provide comments on the draft by Oct.29.
5. Subgroup updates (if any in addition to above):
- User panel. None
- Discovery Tools / Scholars Portage. Nothing further.
- RACER. Nothing further.
- RefWorks. Nothing further.
- SFX. Action: All review the proposed user survey and give feedback to Dana by Oct.29: http://spotdocs.scholarsportal.info/display/PSWG/SFX+end+user+survey
6. Next meeting: Tue.Nov.13, 9:30-10:30
